Preliminary Study on Local Magnitude Correction Using Seismic Intensity Meter Data in Hebei Region

为拓展烈度仪数据在震级测定中的应用,本文收集了河北地区2021—2024年ML≥2.0的63次地震事件烈度仪加速度记录,构建了适用于河北地区的烈度仪震级测定量规函数,并计算得到945个台站校正值。基于63个参考事件开展精度检验,结果表明,本文方法测定的地方性震级与编目震级偏差分布期望值为−0.0142,标准差为0.4149。选取2025年1-5月11次ML≥2.0地震事件进行独立验证,震级偏差期望为0.034,标准差为0.055。研究表明,本文构建的量规函数与台站校正值适用于河北地区地方性震级测定,有效验证了烈度仪数据用于地方性震级测定的可行性,为区域地震编目和震级速报提供技术参考。

Abstract:To expand the application of seismic intensity meter (SIM) data in local magnitude determination, we collected acceleration records from 63 earthquake events with ML≥2.0 in Hebei Province during 2021—2024. We derived an optimized local magnitude calibration function and 945 station-specific correction values for SIMs. For 63 selected events, the expected value of the local magnitude deviation distribution was −0.0142, and the standard deviation was 0.4149. Finally,eleven earthquake events with ML≥2.0 from January to May 2025 were selected for independent validation.The expected value of the local magnitude deviation distribution was 0.034, and the standard deviation was 0.055.In this study, by constructing the magnitude calibration function and station correction values for local magnitude determination using SIMs, the feasibility of local magnitude measurement with SIMs was verified. This provides a reference for the application of SIM data in subsequently routine local magnitude determination work.
